Fly fishing is among the most popular techniques of fishing. It is special because first of all it is dissimilar and secondly because it has been used even since antiquity. In our times it is very famous as by using it people are able to catch trout and salmon much easier. However, fly fishing does not resume only to salmon and trout. Other species, such as carp, pike, pan fish, bass, redfish, snook, bonefish, stripped bass and tarpon. The last five species are found in the sea, while the rest live in rivers. The goal of several fishermen is to hunt for a greater number of species by utilizing only this technique.

The technique involves special equipment. First of all, the fishermen must have a fly rod and a fly line. The rod that is used for fly fishing must be long and very flexible. This rod is longer than the one used in the other techniques. In our times, the rod is made from fiberglass or from a mix of graphite and carbon and graphite and boron. However, it is important to see how this part of the gear has developed. In antiquity, the pole that was used for fly fishing was typically made from a thin branch of tree.

Fly fishing is a technique that utilizes a special type of bait that looks and feels like a real insect. These artificial flies are attached to the hooks which are furthermore attached to the fishing line. Attaching several hundreds or even thousands of such hooks to the fishing line leads to a more complex technique that is named line-fishing.

The bait used in this technique may have three possible behaviors. First of all, the fly may sink slowly. This action is known to attract fish. In the second scenario, the fly floats on the surface of the water. In the third situation, the fly floats in the water. Casting the line away and then retrieving it slowly determines the fly to move, fact that is also found attractive by the fish.

The most famous places in the world for fly fishing are found in the United States and Canada. However, people must not understand that on the rest of the globe this technique is not practiced. Fly fishing rods, reels and baits are the products that sale the most. The majority of the products found in a typical store are designed for this particular technique.
